Gulf Coast Board Alumni Gather to Mark 30 Years of Leadership and Regional Impact
VENICE, FL (Apr. 22, 2026) – Gulf Coast Community Foundation recently hosted a Board Alumni Gathering, bringing together past and present board members to mark 30 years of leadership across Sarasota, Charlotte and DeSoto Counties.
The event convened board members from across Gulf Coast’s history, including members of the original board formed in the mid-90’s following the sale of Venice Hospital, as well as the most newly elected members whose terms began April 1. The Board alumni serve a vital role through their continued support of the Foundation as ambassadors in the community, advisors to leadership, and stewards of institutional knowledge.
“The individuals in this room represent what has shaped Gulf Coast into what it is today,” said Phillip Lanham, Gulf Coast’s President | CEO, during the gathering. “Each of them has played a role in building this organization through their leadership, perspective and belief in what this Foundation could become.”
Founded in 1995, Gulf Coast has grown steadily over three decades and together with their donors has invested more than $625 million in community impact across health and human services, education, civic & economic development, arts & culture, and the environment.
Anand Pallegar, current Gulf Coast Board Chair, has served on the board for more than a decade and said the gathering reflected both growth and continuity.
“Gulf Coast has expanded significantly, but its commitment to community and strong partnership between the board and staff have remained consistent,” Pallegar said. “The values established by earlier boards still guide decisions today and position the Foundation for what comes next.”
Lanham shared findings from the Foundation’s most recent Regional Scan, which identified affordable housing, protecting our natural environment, and helping people in times of crisis as the region’s most pressing needs. He also highlighted the role of donor partnerships in advancing these priorities and the impact achieved when Gulf Coast and donors work together.
The gathering served as an opportunity to reflect on three decades of leadership while reinforcing the Foundation’s focus on sustained, community‑driven impact moving forward.
Gulf Coast leadership is available for interviews to discuss board impact, the results of the Regional Scan, and the $625 million in impact achieved. For more information about Gulf Coast Community Foundation, visit GulfCoastCF.org.
