BRADENTON, FL - July 29, 2026 Students from Suncoast Technical College’s (STC) Summer CAD Program stepped outside the classroom this week for a firsthand look at how architectural ideas progress from initial concept and design to construction.

Fawley Bryant Architecture (FBA) hosted the students and their instructor at the firm’s Lakewood Ranch office, giving them an inside look at the people, skills and collaboration involved in bringing a project to life. Henry Kellner, FBA Project Manager, walked the students through the City Park project before leading a tour of its construction site, where FBA is serving as lead architect.

“The students and I appreciate the value of being able to experience real world industry in an up-close environment,” said Nick Dilorenzo, STC Instructor, CAD (Computer-Aided Drawing and Modeling) following the tour. “As the students explore careers, the emphasis is on both the pros and cons of the industry and the best way to do this is through firsthand experience.”

By following the City Park project from architectural drawings to active construction, the students saw how the technical skills they are developing through the Summer CAD Program are applied in a professional setting. At the jobsite, they learned how architects coordinate design, respond to field conditions and collaborate with clients, contractors and other project partners during construction.

“Passing decades of knowledge and experience on to the next generation of CAD and BIM professionals is something I will always make time for,” said Kellner. “Helping students connect what they see in Revit to the built environment can inspire them to achieve great things in this profession.”

The STC tour reflects FBA’s ongoing commitment to supporting local students and strengthening the future design and construction workforce. FBA has also hosted students from the Boys & Girls Club’s MAPS program, IMG Academy and other local educational programs for job shadowing, career exploration and hands-on learning opportunities.

FBA team members also support career and technical education beyond the office. Kellner has participated in advisory and learning activities with Suncoast Technical College, while other team members have participated in local career days, engaged with CAD students during Manatee Technical College’s Workforce Wednesday and introduced Sarasota County students to career paths in sports architecture through tours of local stadiums and facilities.

Through these efforts, FBA helps students understand the range of careers available within architecture, design and construction while building stronger connections between education and the local professional community.
