About
Originally incorporated on February 25, 1959 as the Sarasota Jewish Community Council, The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee has grown along with the Jewish population of the two counties. Our Mission: To strengthen Jewish life and identity in our community, provide for Jewish people in need, and promote support for Israel. Three areas of focus: 1. Preserving our heritage (cultural, educational and social programming) 2. Providing assistance for those in need (bringing sustenance, shelter, help and empowerment to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of the community) 3. Protecting Jews in need wherever they may be (connecting our local community with Jews worldwide and funding human service and educational programs in 70+ countries, especially Israel. Additionally, we work hard to educate our community, both Jewish and non-Jewish, on the horrors of the Holocaust and combating anti-Semitism. Our Heller Community Relations Committee does extensive work in the interfaith community, governmental and non-profit partnerships and our local school systems.
