Are you ready to step into the spotlight? The Manatee Performing Arts Center invites community members to audition for our upcoming productions of Terms of Endearment, Once Upon a Mattress, Cemetery Club, & BRIGHT STAR! Whether you’re a seasoned performer or new to the stage, this is your chance to become part of something truly special.

 Audition Dates & Details Sunday, September 21 & Monday, September 22 7:00–10:00 PM 

Auditions will be held in Kiwanis Hall (upstairs). Please check in downstairs in the lobby upon arrival. We are seeking volunteer actors of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels to join our cast. All roles are open, and we welcome both familiar faces and first-time performers. 

What to Expect Auditions will consist of a vocal performance, cold readings from the script, and some movement exercises. Please come prepared with a short musical selection (16–32 bars) that showcases your voice. An accompanist will be provided, or you may bring a track. You may be asked to read for specific roles or sing in harmony. Movement will be light and focused on expression and timing—comfortable clothing and shoes are encouraged. 

About the Shows 

Terms of Endearment (Drama): A touching and bittersweet story about the complex bond between a mother and daughter as they navigate love, loss, and life's unexpected turns. 

Once Upon a Mattress (Musical): A hilarious and whimsical twist on the Princess and the Pea fairy tale, filled with quirky characters, catchy songs, and royal chaos. 

Cemetery Club (Dramatic Comedy): Three widowed friends meet regularly at their husbands’ graves—until new love and old grief stir up heartwarming humor and honest reflection. 

Bright Star (Musical): Set in the American South, this bluegrass-infused musical tells a powerful tale of love, heartbreak, and redemption across generations, inspired by a real event.
